11 Collector and commemorative coins to be issued in 2022

Next year the Bank of Lithuania will issue eight euro collector coins of different denominations, three €2 commemorative coins with the Lithuanian national side and a numismatic set of euro circulation coins. Such a decision was made by the Board of the Bank of Lithuania, which approved the plan for coin issue in 2022.

Continuing the coin series “Tales from My Childhood”, a €5 silver coin and a €1.50 coin minted from a non-ferrous metal alloy dedicated to the fairy tale “Zuikis puikis” will be issued in the first quarter of 2022.

In the second quarter of 2022, the Bank of Lithuania will issue a €10 silver coin dubbed “There Is No Planet B”, which will be dedicated to environmental protection, and a €2 commemorative coin celebrating 100 years of basketball in Lithuania.

In the third quarter of 2022, the Bank of Lithuania plans to issue a €50 gold coin dedicated to the centenary of the Constitution of the State of Lithuania, a €50 gold coin, a €20 silver coin and a €1.50 coin minted from a non-ferrous metal alloy dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Bank of Lithuania, and a €2 commemorative coin celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Erasmus Programme. The latter will be issued together with the other member states of the euro area by the initiative of the European Commission.

In the fourth quarter of 2022, the Bank of Lithuania will issue a €20 silver coin dedicated to artificial intelligence and a €2 commemorative coin dedicated to the region of Suvalkija, in continuation of the series “Lithuanian Ethnographic Regions”.

The 2022-issue numismatic set of euro circulation coins, consisting of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 euro cent, €1 and €2 circulation coins with the Lithuanian national side, will be issued in the first quarter of 2022.
