It would be quite difficult to introduce Vladas Stašinskas (1874–1944) briefly. There are different answers to the question of who he was, depending on the one who is asking.

Most often remembered as one of the most outstanding interwar professionals of Lithuanian law, Stašinskas made his mark in various spheres and was the first or among the first in many fields. He was one of the first Lithuanian deputies in the Duma of the Russian Empire, the first Minister of the Interior, the first Chairman of the Council of Sworn Advocates, and the second Governor of Lietuvos bankas. Such an impressive description of Stašinskas’ professional life stood in stark contrast to his modest personality, being constantly concerned with the well-being of his family.

These characteristics of Stašinskas are only a few highlights of his biography, which make up a picture with numerous blank spaces that cannot be hidden in full either by the memory or historical studies. This exhibition of the Money Museum is an attempt to put Stašinskas’ life puzzle together from different sparse pieces, disclosing his contribution to the history of Lithuania as a lawyer, politician and banker, and not forgetting the personal life protected from outsiders.
