In 2014, the European Museum Forum recognised the Money Museum of the Bank of Lithuania as the European Museum of the Year (EMYA) 2014. The event has been organised on an annual basis since 1977. The EMYA awards are set to recognise the most innovative and modern museums that provide the highest quality services. The contest is open to all European museums that have been re-opened or modernised over the past two years.
