TRIPADVISOR’S CERTIFICATE OF EXCELLENCE

Every year since 2014, we have received a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor – the world’s largest travel platform. The travel site, which is visited by an average of 463 million people each month and presents reviews and opinions of 8.7 million sights, grants its Certificates of Excellence to best-rated museums, theatres, hotels, restaurants and other spots of interest in various countries.
 
 

THE MOST HOSPITABLE GUIDE

In 2014, Nijolė Butkevičienė, one of our guides, was named “The Most Hospitable Employee of a Cultural Institution in Vilnius” at the Vilnius Hospitality Contest. Each year, the competition celebrates the most hospitable hotels, cafés, bars, museums, galleries, boutiques, incoming tourism agencies, guides and other employees of accommodation and cultural institutions to enhance service quality and improve the overall image of the city.
   

THE EUROPEAN MUSEUM 2014


In 2014, the European Museum Forum recognised the Money Museum of the Bank of Lithuania as the European Museum of the Year (EMYA) 2014. The event has been organised on an annual basis since 1977. The EMYA awards are set to recognise the most innovative and modern museums that provide the highest quality services. The contest is open to all European museums that have been re-opened or modernised over the past two years.
 

ONE OF THE WORLD’S TOP5 MUSEUMS

In 2013, the scientific journal MintWorld Compendium named us one of the top-five central bank museums in the world. The top-five list also included the money museums of the central banks of Canada, Germany, South Korea as well as the US Federal Reserve System. The remaining five spots in the list went to the money museums of the National Bank of Belgium, the Reserve Bank of India as well as the central banks of England, Israel and Japan.

Each year the competition celebrates the most hospitable hotels, guest houses, youth hostels, restaurants, cafés, music clubs, museums, galleries, shops and incoming tourism agencies to enhance service quality and improve the overall image of the city.
 
 

THE FRIENDLIEST MUSEUM 2013

In 2013, we were named “The Friendliest Museum in Vilnius” at the competition “Lithuania’s Tourist Destination of Excellence 2013. Tourism Adapted to Everyone”. It was organised by the State Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Economy as part of the European Commission’s project “European Destinations of Excellence”. The idea to nominate us was proposed by the Vilnius Tourist Information Centre.
     

THE FRIENDLIEST MUSEUM 2012

Having assessed 69 cultural and leisure objects in Lithuania, the Lithuanian Association of People with Disabilities named us “The Friendliest Museum 2012”. Over 1.2 thousand people with disabilities (roughly 5% of total visitors) visited the Money Museum in 2012. 

“The Money Museum of the Bank of Lithuania stands out among other museums, as it is not only accessible to people in wheelchairs, but also adapted to visitors with hearing disabilities and those who are visually impaired,” claimed Rasa Kavaliauskaitė, President of the Lithuanian Association of People with Disabilities.
