As of today, 24 October, the opening hours of the Bank of Lithuania cash offices in Vilnius and Kaunas are being extended for residents to be able to use free-of-charge cash services more conveniently, as well as to buy collector and commemorative coins.
‘We have listened to the people’s wishes and, having pooled internal resources, extended the opening hours of our cash offices in Vilnius and Kaunas. From now on, we will allocate approximately 50 per cent, or 12 hours, more working time for servicing residents at each cash office compared to the previous schedule,’ says Deivis Stankevičius, Director of the Cash Department at the Bank of Lithuania.
Every business day the cash offices will open at 8:30 — half an hour earlier — and will operate without a lunch break. On Mondays in Vilnius and on Thursdays in Kaunas, the opening hours of the Bank of Lithuania cash offices are being extended by 3 hours — until 18:00. On other business days, the cash offices will close half an hour later than they did to date (at 15:30, on Fridays — 14:30).
Mr Stankevičius reminded that the Bank of Lithuania provides major cash services to residents free of charge, including litas exchange into euro, exchange of currency unfit for circulation, etc. Moreover, collector and commemorative coins can be bought there.
Since April of this year, the Bank of Lithuania has offered to residents new cash services free of charge: the cash offices exchange euro banknotes into higher/lower denominations in large quantities. In addition, uncirculated circulation and commemorative coins with the Lithuanian national side can be bought or exchanged there at face value.
A renovated and modernised, more convenient for customers, cash office of the Bank of Lithuania started operating in Vilnius at Žirmūnų g. 151 in May. There are plans to open an e-shop for collector and commemorative coins in spring next year as well. This way the goal is to provide more convenient conditions for Lithuanian and foreign collectors to purchase numismatic items issued by the Bank of Lithuania.
